The inaugural edition of Saminifest, was a four-day affair which brought together music lovers and fans of Samini to celebrate his 10 years in music. The festival which kicked off with a number of activities including music seminars culminated into aconcert with several top Ghanaian acts and budding new talents at the Trade FairCentre last Saturday. Samini made an appearance in a shirt bearing the inscription‘Easy come easy go’..hmm was it a message to his much talked about dancehall arch rival?
Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy raised the curtain on a show that last well over 6 hours. He performed almost 10 popular songs including “Bhim Nation”, “More Gyal”, “Give It To Them (kwanaamu)”,” Pull Up” and finally ended with “Baafira” which featuresSarkodie. He was followed by rising music acts like Tema based Dancehall artiste I Jude, Brenya, Scata Bada, Agbeshie, Koo Ntakra of MTN Hitmaker fame, Busta Rap and AJ Nelson. Noble Nketsia, Andy of Mentor fame, AK Songstress, Akoo Nana , Kofi Kinaata, VVIP, 4×4 and Kaakie all gave lovely performances, leaving the crowd in anticipation for more.
Multiple award-winner, Samini, began his performance with his popular single “Slow Motion”. He performed more than 26 songs in total, both old and new tracks including the event theme “Godfull” amidst unstoppable fireworks. He performed hiscollaborations with Kwabena Kwabena, Kokovelli, Tinny and Sarkodie. Sarkodie grabbed some of the spotlight when he came on stage to perform songs like “Original”, “Pizza & Burger”, “Illuminati”, “M3gye Wo Girl”, “Adonai” and “Dancehall Commando”.
