With the 6th of March just around the corner, here are my top 5 destinations in Ghana to be at for the celebrations.
1 – Elmina castle
A wise man once said ‘you can’t know where you’re going if you don’t know where you came from’.
Built in 1482 by the Portuguese, it was the first trading post on the Guilf of Guinea, and the oldest European building in existence below Sahara. The castle became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.
This rustic ‘off white’ magnificent building encompasses many rooms used to keep the slaves, a visit to this site will leave you not only speechless, but overcome with emotion at how far we have come as a nation.
